Rapper Young Scooter Dies on His 39th Birthday: Hip-Hop Community Mourns
The hip-hop world is mourning the tragic loss of Kenneth Edward Bailey, known professionally as Young Scooter, who passed away on March 28, 2025—his 39th birthday.
According to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office, Young Scooter was pronounced dead Friday at Grady Marcus Trauma Center in Atlanta after being transported by Emergency Medical Services from a location on the southeast side of the city.
Reports from WSBTV indicate that police were called to an Atlanta home regarding an alleged domestic disturbance. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots and claimed to have seen a woman being dragged into the house. When police arrived, a man opened the door briefly before shutting it in their faces. Shortly after, two men ran out of the back of the home.
One of the men later returned, but the other—believed to be Young Scooter—continued running, jumping two fences before reportedly injuring his leg and suffering significant blood loss. He was later taken to Grady Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The woman reported by neighbors has not yet been located, and authorities are still investigating the situation.
Scooter’s son, KB, confirmed his passing with a heartfelt tribute on social media:
“Damn my best friend gone. Happy birthday too… I know exactly what to do fasho tho. You know I got my sisters and brothers they overly good yo son a hustla just like you. Watch this.”
Born in Walterboro, South Carolina, and raised in Atlanta, Young Scooter made a name for himself in hip-hop with his freestyle-heavy style and authentic storytelling about street life and hustling. His 2012 mixtape Street Lottery and the hit single Colombia catapulted him to fame. Throughout his career, he collaborated with major artists like Future, Gucci Mane, and Juice Wrld, solidifying his legacy in the rap industry.
Beyond his music, Scooter was known for his “count music” style, focusing on themes of money and survival. He often credited influences like Jay-Z and 50 Cent, and he remained a respected figure in the hip-hop community.
His sudden passing has left fans, friends, and fellow artists devastated. As investigations continue, we send our deepest condolences to his loved ones.
